Valentines Banquet 2009
The Ladies Ministry really enjoys putting together the annual Valentine's Banquet, which is one of the highlights of the year that everyone looks forward to. This year we had a wonderful BBQ meal, as always, from Ernie's. The program started off with a love song duet by Paul and Brenda Boen followed by a poem read by Paul about a Cowboy's Valentine Date. Then Joy Phillips sang a humorous song and used a live dog as a prop. Next up was Patty Mayville with her special followed by another song from Joy. Paul and Brenda finished up the music portion of the night with another love song duet. Intermingled with the music, there were several door prizes given out. Next up was a very humorous spontaneous melodrama called "As the Tractor Wheel Turns". A spontaneous melodrama is where volunteers from the audience act out a short play using various props and actions as a narrator reads it. It was particularly funny because the star of the show, Linda Loveless, was played by none other than Perry Stroder. Also participating were Bob Bates (as Bubba Deere), Brian Gibson (as Junior Deere), Josh Hitchcock (as a table), Tammy Hitchcock (as a phone), Dana Reed (as a door) and Brenda Boen as the narrator. The evening was capped off with the annual "Not-So-Newlywed Game" where four couples try to guess how their mates answered questions. As always it was hoot to hear the responses. Participating were Tony & Penny Casper, Travis and Patricia Burney, Bobby and Venita Cook, and the winners, Sanders and Amy Walker. Pastor Moss was ready and standing by just in case he needed to do some quick marriage counseling for those who didn't score very well. However, all were smiling at the end while the audience erupted in laughter. Everyone had a wonderful time.
